Educated Girls Develop Nations.
The Founder of Chalan Foundation, Ms. Margaret Koech, and Governing Council Member, Dr. Loice Rono, represented the organization at the Usawa Gender Report Launch, held under the theme, “Educated Girls Develop Nations.”
During her presentation, Ms. Koech gave an overview of Chalan Foundation and shared her personal story of overcoming poverty. She explained that her experience as a vulnerable learner inspired her to establish the Foundation and support children facing similar challenges.
She noted that the Foundation initially focused on supporting learners through scholarships. However, it later became evident that many learners dropped out despite receiving financial support. This realization led to the introduction of Life Skills programmes.
Ms. Koech also shared findings from the Foundation’s baseline survey that was conducted in January 2026 across ten counties. She emphasised that Chalan Foundation supports both boys and girls with scholarships, mentorship, and life skills.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Koech reaffirmed that, “Chalan Foundation remains committed to supporting every learner and ensuring they participate in education.”
The Launch provided a valuable platform for Chalan Foundation to share its vision and advocate for inclusive and equitable education for all learners.
