SUPPORTING WELLBEING, DIGNITY AND SAFE PARTICIPATION
Our Community Health and Psychosocial Support programme addresses health, wellbeing and protection barriers that can disrupt learning. The model combines advocacy, awareness, prevention, supportive engagement, dignity and links to appropriate services. Chalan’s role is primarily preventive, supportive and facilitative, with referral to qualified providers where specialised care is needed.
OUR AREAS OF FOCUS
Prevention and awareness
Age-appropriate health information helps learners understand wellbeing, menstrual health, dignity and when to seek support. Engagement with schools and caregivers encourages informed, supportive responses to learners’ needs.
Psychosocial support
Safe spaces, mentorship and supportive conversations are designed to strengthen resilience, belonging and the confidence to ask for help.
Referral and protection
Learner safety guides the programme. Where specialised support is needed, the approach emphasises connection with qualified services and appropriate protection mechanisms.
Advocacy
We create awareness and promote engagement with schools, communities and public institutions on the barriers that affect learner wellbeing. Priorities include menstrual stigma, exclusion, harmful practices, protection risks and unequal access to services. Advocacy connects individual support with efforts to improve the conditions in which young people learn and grow.
MENSTRUAL HEALTH AND DIGNITY
Menstrual health education, dignity support and engagement with schools can help reduce barriers to attendance and participation. Our approach encourages understanding among girls and boys, challenges stigma and supports learners to seek help.
